Canadian Labour Congress

Canada’s national voice for the labour movement, representing more than 3 million workers through affiliated unions, federations, and labour councils. The CLC coordinates national campaigns on workers’ rights, equity, anti-racism, reconciliation, and social justice. Relevant for Local 261 as our connection to broader Canadian labour strategy and solidarity actions.
Ottawa & District Labour Council

The central labour body for the Ottawa region, bringing together dozens of local unions (including Local 261) that represent tens of thousands of workers. The ODLC coordinates local solidarity, political action, education, and community advocacy. It is our key partner for city-level labour issues and mutual support among Ottawa unions.
Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL)
The Ontario Federation of Labour is the provincial voice of over one million unionized workers in Ontario. It coordinates campaigns on employment standards, health and safety, equity, and political action. Relevant for Local 261 as our connection to province-wide labour struggles and solidarity with other Ontario unions.
Human Rights and Equity:
Canadian Human Rights Commission

Canada’s national human rights institution. The Commission investigates and helps resolve complaints of discrimination under the Canadian Human Rights Act, promotes employment equity, and advances accessibility and pay equity. Useful for members and the local when addressing workplace discrimination, harassment, or systemic barriers, including those affecting Indigenous, racialized, and other equity-seeking workers.
Ontario Human Rights Commission (OHRC)
The provincial body responsible for promoting and protecting human rights under Ontario’s Human Rights Code. It develops policies, educates the public, and addresses systemic discrimination in employment, housing, and services. A key resource for members facing workplace discrimination, harassment, or barriers to equity.
Health and Safety:
Occupational Health Clinics for Ontario Workers (OHCOW)
Independent clinics that help workers with work-related injuries, illnesses, and workplace hazards. They provide medical assessments, ergonomic advice, and support for WSIB claims at no cost. Especially useful for hospitality and service workers dealing with repetitive strain, chemical exposures, or other job-related health concerns. An Ottawa clinic is available.
